Spring is here! While we love the warmer weather that spring brings, chocolate isn’t really a fan. This is the time of year we have to start paying really close attention to the temperature and at any moment, could deem it necessary to flip the switch on our warm weather shipping policy. Basically, this is what you need to know: We always work hard to ensure that our chocolate is delivered fresh and in good condition. During the warmer months of the year when temperatures are over 70 degrees (typically April through October, but could possibly be other months as well), all candy orders are sent using insulated shippers and cold packs to help ensure the chocolate arrives in good condition via ground transportation. This solution requires an additional $10 fee per shipment of candy, and will be applied to your order at checkout during warmer periods of time. It is possible that the warm weather charge could be on one day and off the next, but starting in mid to late April, it is likely to be on for good until October. In addition, any shipments that would normally be scheduled to ship on Fridays will be held until the following Monday during warmer weather to ensure minimal time in transit. The Goo Goo Shop is excited to host a fan appreciation event for Jonathan and Drew Scott of HGTV’s Property Brothers, on Monday, March 28th at 1:30 pm CDT. Registration opens at 12 pm at the main entrance table. Each fan will need to provide a proof of purchase for the soon-to-be released Dream Home book in order to receive a numbered wristband. Printed receipts, email and mobile receipts are acceptable. Fans must provide proof of purchase to receive entrance to the event. Fans who have not yet purchased the book can do so on-site via iPad transaction. Until the event officially begins at 1:30 pm, fans are free to explore Goo Goo Shop. Participants will then line up in order of their assigned wristband number, so an early arrival time is advised! The meet and greet begins promptly at 1:30 pm and includes a cell phone photo opportunity with Jonathan and Drew, and an autographed photo postcard. April is National Pecan Month, so we’re jonesin’ to celebrate the 30-day holiday with something sweet and delicious! Instead of the obvious Pecan Pie however, we put a Pecan Goo Goo twist on a Canadian classic, Nanaimo Bars, but don’t be fooled by the fancy name, these are easy as pie to make.

The Nashville Convention and Visitor’s Corporation announced earlier this week that Southern Living is partnering with the city of Nashville to celebrate the brand’s 50th anniversary this year. Nashville Now (#NashvilleNow) is an event that will take place Labor Day weekend, Sept. 1-5, throughout Music City. In addition to the big celebration in September, Southern Living collaborated with us (!!!!) on a limited edition Premium flavor to commemorate the 50th anniversary: The Hummingbird Premium Goo Goo. The Hummingbird was a collaboration between Southern Living and the Goo Goo team to come up with the perfect representation of the southern lifestyle in candy form. Inspired by a very southern dessert, the Hummingbird Cake, the new Premium is made of pecan butter, pecans, banana chips, caramel, vanilla wafer and whipped pineapple white chocolate cream cheese ganache, all covered in dark chocolate. Since the original recipe for Hummingbird Cake appeared in Southern Living in 1978, it has become the most requested recipe in the brand’s history, so it only seemed fitting that our Premium creation be based on this popular dessert. The 4-ounce Hummingbird is made by hand in our downtown Nashville Goo Goo Shop, located at 116 Third Avenue South.
