My niece, born and raised in Nashville (a sixth generation Nasvillian) works in Haiti. Knowing that she sometimes misses her hometown I sent her a twelve pack of Goo Goo Candy Bars to share with her office staff. My thank you note from her came in the form of a picture posted on Facebook of her Haitian coworker pronouncing Goo Goo Bars to be "Bon Goo!". — Darla Joure

I was in my early twenties and working for Capitol/EMI at the New York office in their Promotion Dept. In 1980, we had a new British band named Kajagoogoo and someone at the record company used the Goo Goo Cluster as part of a promotion for the band. We had a substantial shipment sent directly from the factory to New York to use as giveaways for an appearance by the band. Despite the fact that I had lived in South Carolina in the mid 1970s and made frequent trips to Eastern Tennessee, I had never gotten the opportunity to try a Goo Goo Cluster. Well, when the promotion director brought in a few boxes just for us and I got my first taste of a fresh one …. WOW! I think I snuck about 10 of them out of my office to take home! Without question, they are the most delicious candy I have ever tasted! — Terry Day facebook twitter pinterest google+

Earlier this month we traveled down to Athens, Georgia for the fabulous Southern C Summit, a forum for Southern bloggers, businesses, and brands. As a sponsor of this incredible event, we were responsible for hosting the afternoon break for all attendees. You know that time of day when you hit a slump? A couple of hours after lunch when you need a pick-me-up to get you through the rest of the day? Yep. That time. What better way to wake a person up than feed them a Goo Goo?! Well, we took it a step further by teaming up with the amazing folks at Epting Events. We wanted them to create a dessert for us using Goo Goo Clusters. Simple enough. A cookie, a pie, a brownie – whatever they wanted to do, we were open. Well, how astounded were we when they came up with not one, not two, but NINE (yes 9!) incredible dishes?!? And there weren’t just desserts, they also incorporated Goo Goos into savory bites: a Pork Slider with Goo Goo Mole Sauce, Country Ham Biscuit with Goo Goo Cluster Crumble and Chocolate-Dipped Bacon with a Crunchy Goo Goo Cluster Coating. The sweets were: Empanadas with a Goo Goo Cluster Filling, a Goo Goo Cluster Cannoli, Chocolate-Dipped Strawberries with a Crunchy Goo Goo Cluster Coating, Goo Goo Cluster Shortbread, Goo Goo Cluster Caramel Popcorn, and even a Bourbon Goo Goo Cluster Milkshake. Thank you Epting Events for going above and beyond in coming up with some […]

Check it out! The new Goo Goo Outpost is #1 on Southern Living’s blog, The Daily South’s Hot List!

101 years after the creation of the Goo Goo Cluster, we’re pleased to announce our first retail store! The Goo Goo Outpost is located on the grounds of Fontanel in North Nashville. For those not familiar, the Fontanel Mansion is a 27,000 square foot log home formerly owned by Country Music Hall of Fame member Barbara Mandrell. The home is situated on a 136-acre property nestled in the rolling hills of Whites Creek Valley just 10 minutes from downtown Nashville. In addition to the mansion and the Outpost, the property includes performance venues the Woods Amphitheater and the Studio Gallery, as well as family friendly activities like zip lines, a disc golf course, and several miles of bike and walking trails. The 2013 Southern Living Idea House and Pritchard’s Distillery, both currently under construction on the grounds, are set to open later this summer.   The Goo Goo Outpost, housed in Fontanel’s historical dairy barn, will carry all three variations of the Goo Goo Cluster, a branded merchandise line, an array of nostalgic candies, and a selection of Bravo Gelato’s locally made gelatos, including their new Goo Goo Cluster Original and Chocolate Peanut Butter Goo Goo flavors. Please join us for our Grand Opening this Saturday, May 18th, where our Goo Goo mascots and Goo Goo girls will be on hand, we’ll have a sampling of confections to taste throughout the day and we’ll be giving out some fabulous prizes to shoppers! Come see us! Goo Goo Outpost 4225 Whites […]
